Based in Guyana, Barry Kevin O’Rourke has developed extensive experience in the mining industry. Specifically, he has focused on directing operations dedicated to mining diamonds and precious metals on more than 25 blocks - or about 30,000 acres - of land in the country’s jungle areas. Barry Kevin O’Rourke and his team of professionals work in a region where a company can potentially extract 250,000 ounces of gold or more annually.
Mr. O’Rourke maintains close ties to the Guyana Geology and Mines Commission (GGMC), which has served for more than 40 years as a recognized source of information on the nation’s extensive mineral deposits and resources. GGMC furthers the interests of professional miners, as well as mining industry investors and the public, by offering extensive information on the industry in electronic format.
Additionally, Mr. O’Rourke follows current GGMC-led developments concerning mining regulations and other aspects of the industry. In 2018 Guyana exported an estimated $610 million in gold, platinum-plated gold, or unwrought and semi-manufactured gold. At 41 percent of total exports, this is the country’s largest export category.
